We cover all of Cambridge and Rome Township and part of Novell Township in Jackson County. How do I get a burn permit? You can contact the Cambridge Twp. Hall or apply online on this website. What is the difference between the fire department and the firemens club? The fire department is a township run department run by the officers of the department as the decision makers over the membership. And the township officials are the policy setters. The club is made up of all of the same members as the fire department. The club does fund raisers to raise money to buy some small equipment for the fire department. And to give back to the community. How often do the firemen train? We have one scheduled training a month plus a truck check which we consider training it keeps all personnel familiar with all of our equipment. Outside of these two monthly events we do many other classes to stay current in the fire service and to keep all of our personnel safe on each and every call. Why does the fire department shut down the road when there is an accident? SAFETY for our personnel is our number one priority we do this to prevent our firemen from being hit. What kind of emergencies does the fire department respond to? We respond to anything someone considers enough of an emergency to call 911. From medical calls to motor vehicle accidents to many types of fires and storm calls. What does the fire department do under a tornado watch? We place trucks in strategic places around our coverage area with trained weather spotting personnel in them to watch the storm for any type of severe weather so we can fore warn the people in the area. Does the CTFD transport patients to the hospital? No we respond along with an ambulance we assist the ambulance crew with patient care and loading. Then they transport so our rescue and personnel can stay in our area to further serve the people in our coverage area. How do the firemen know when to go to the station for a call? We provide pagers for all of our fire personnel and the siren sounds. The sheriff's departments dispatch center (911) receives the emergency call Then they activate our pagers which we carry on our person. Then we respond to the station to get our gear and apparatus and respond to the emergency. How long will it take for the fire department to get to my house for an emergency? Our average response time to the station is under 3 minutes then our average to respond to the emergency location is 5 to 10 minutes. Do the firemen get paid? Yes, we get paid by the hour only when we are on a call and just the personnel that are on the call, or at the station during the call doing chores around the station such as cleaning and equipment maintenance. Does the fire department ever respond to emergencies outside of there coverage area? Yes, we have a mutual aid agreement wit the rest of the county fire departments. This means we will assist any of these departments when they ask for any type of emergency. What is RIT? RIT Rapid Intervention Teams. These teams are made up of specially trained firemen throughout the county and surrounding counties. We call for these teams from other departments on all and any type of structure fires. They respond with 6 to 8 RIT trained firemen to setup outside of our fire with the sole purpose of fire fighter rescue should any of the firemen in the fire run into any type of problem. |
